South African Kids Learn Mandarin

 

CNN's Nkepile Mabuse reports that for some South African kids, learning Mandarin is an investment in their future. The school was established in 1934 for a small Chinese community in South Africa. Now families of all ethnicities are choosing to send their children here, to prepare them for successful global careers.

Marta's childhood:)

My childhood was the best period of my life. I was careless and every day I was going out to play 'hide and seek' with my neighbours' children. We had a lot of ideas. Sometimes we had fun on a playground, sometimes we hid in the old buildings pretending that we were special agents. Our acts were sometimes stupid and irresponsible but at least we did not sit all day at home in front of a computer. I did not regret a thing and I would like to be a child once again...

This song reminds me of my childhood. When I was driving a car with my father, we always listened to it. Although my father knows only German, he tried to sing it. Of course, his word did not make sense, but it was funny. When I hear the song today it makes me calm and happy.

Children from Bullerby by Astrid Lindgren.

The story-teller is a little girl named Lisa; she tells us about her life and adventures in the small and neat Swedish village Bullerby (Bullerbyn in Swedish). The village consists of three lined up houses where live seven children with their parents and housekeepers: Lisa with her older brothers Lasse and Bosse, the siblings Britta and Anna, as well as Ole with his little sister Kerstin. Astrid Lindgren not only depicts a village with a special charm, but she also creates a perfect children's world; it touches the reader especially by its simplicity which holds the deep wisdom of true human values and a great amount of fine humour.

My hometown

I live in Miejska Górka. It is a small city, near Rawicz, 60 kilometers from Wroclaw.
My hometown is associated, mainly, with baseball team, called "Demony", which took part in European and Asian Championships of Little League in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009. What is interesting about this event is that we have hosted these Championships two years in a row.

In Miejska Górka, there are not many opportunities to be entertained, except for two pubs and a club which is located 5 kilometers away from the city. What I would recommend everyone to see, is the lake with beautiful surroundings, such as parks, promenades and forests.
